The Creators of The Saint John’s Bible Announce The Unbound Collection
The creators of The Saint John’s Bible are proud to announce The Unbound Collection: Selected Pages from The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Edition.
For the first and only time ever, these 18 rare, illuminated, unbound pages from the masterful and historic Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible are available for acquisition.
“This is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity to acquire individual pages from the Heritage Edition,” said Rev. Dr. John F. Ross, Executive Director of The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Program. “The Unbound Collection is a new way to experience The Saint John’s Bible, and an opportunity to feature an illumination on the walls of your church, home, library, or classroom.”
With only 15 copies of the 18 pages available for acquisition, this is a rare opportunity. The pages are printed and embossed on 100% cotton and offered as a limited series of hand-numbered and authenticated pieces. Personally hand-embossed by Artistic Director of The Saint John’s Bible Donald Jackson and Studio Manager Sarah Harris-Richards, these unbound pages capture the essence of the original manuscript like only pages from the Heritage Edition could. Each page is a whole new way to experience the sacred words of scripture.
To frame the collection, Saint John’s Abbey Woodworking has hand-crafted frames that are sized exactly to the specifications of the pages and laser cut with The Saint John’s Bible logo. These are also available for purchase.
Why Now? The Story Behind the Pages
When John Roberts Printing Company first printed the Heritage Editions, they created several “extra” pages to keep on hand, just in case. As they did with the rest of the Heritage Edition pages, Donald Jackson and Sarah Harris personally evaluated, finished, and signed off on these pages to ensure their quality.
Thirteen years after the artistic team finalized the Heritage Editions, there is no longer a need to keep the extra pages under lock and key. Therefore, the Heritage Program has chosen to release the pages to the public, in the form of The Unbound Collection.
The Collection was first unveiled in two gallery events at Art Rocks Gallery in Excelsior, Minnesota, where attendees got the first chance to experience and purchase these truly unique unbound pages, of which only a limited number exist.
Now, the collection is available to the public. Already, nearly half of the collection is spoken for, so interested parties should not delay. All proceeds from The Unbound Collection will go towards funding the binding of The Saint John’s Bible original manuscript. Click here to read more about the binding process.
