The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Program: 2025 New Stewards
In 2025, twelve Heritage Editions and one Prophets Edition of The Saint John’s Bible found permanent homes in institutions around the world. From high schools to cathedrals to family homes, each community has embraced this work of sacred art and scripture in its own unique way.
Here are the new public acquisitions from 2025:
St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans, LA

In the wake of the Bourbon Street tragedy that occurred in New Orleans on January 1, 2025, a Dallas, Texas-based couple gifted a Heritage Edition to the Catholic Cultural Center, which is made up of St. Louis Cathedral and the Ursaline Convent Museum. Now, the Center is using the Heritage Edition to revitalize the church’s programming and community engagement.

University of Jamestown, Jamestown, ND
The University of Jamestown officially welcomed a Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible on September 26, 2025. The acquisition occurred in tandem with the unveiling of the renovation of the Vorhees Chapel and the connected Reuben and Clarice Liechty Center for Faith and Life. A generous benefactor gifted the Bible as an investment in the spiritual and intellectual life at the University.

Saint John’s School of Theology, Collegeville, MN – In Loving Memory of Fr. Michael Patella
In the summer of 2025, donors gifted a Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible to the School of Theology and Seminary at Saint John’s University. This Edition was dedicated to Father Michael Patella, OSB, “for his dedication, visionary guidance and embodiment of the Benedictine spirit as Chair of The Saint John’s Bible Committee on Illumination and Text,” in the words of the dedication page by The Saint John’s Bible artist Suzanne Moore.

Order of Malta / St. Ann Catholic Church, Washington, DC
Four families made this gift with the intent to honor and celebrate Fr. Eric Hollas, chaplain in the American Association of the Order of Malta, Prior of Saint John’s Abbey, and Deputy to the President for Advancement at Saint John’s University.
Presided over by Cardinal Robert W. McElroy, St. Ann consists of more than 800 families and boasts extensive spiritual programming for all ages. The church intends to use the Heritage Edition to bolster its already strong engagement.

Cathedral of St. Philip, Atlanta, GA
In conjunction with a campaign to build the Good Faith Chapel, the Cathedral of St. Philip has acquired a Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible. The celebratory acquisition comes after several years during which the Cathedral has expressed a strong desire to welcome a Heritage Edition to its community. It is now the first Heritage Edition to officially reside in Georgia.
St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA
In 1864, monks from St. Vincent Abbey travelled to Collegeville, Minnesota, to form Saint John’s Abbey.
This gift is a beautiful acknowledgement of Saint John’s Abbey’s history and of its relationship to Saint Vincent.
Andrew Julo, a Saint John’s University graduate and former intern at the Hill Manuscript Museum and Library, the home of the original The Saint John’s Bible manuscript, brought the initial idea to gift a Heritage Edition to Saint Vincent College while he served as the Director of the Verostko Center for the Arts (VCA) at Saint Vincent.
Ed and Peggy Bonach, who have previously gifted Heritage Editions to other institutions, generously contributed a matching gift to the Heritage Edition at Saint Vincent College and Abbey.
Flagler College, St. Augustine, FL
Ambassador John Rood, and the Board of Trustees at Flagler College gifted a Heritage Edition to Flagler College in the fall of 2025. A personal connection with Saint John’s University alumnus Steve Halvorson inspired the gift.
Hill-Murray School & St. Paul’s Monastery, St. Paul, MN
This Heritage Edition was gifted to Hill-Murray School & St. Paul’s Monastery in the fall of 2025, and is one of several that have been placed in legacy Benedictine Institutions in recent years. A longtime supporter and former President of Hill-Murray, Jim Hansen, initiated the process of discerning the gift and igniting fundraising efforts.
In collaboration with The Hill-Murray Foundation, it was decided that sharing a Heritage Edition with St. Paul’s Monastery, which shares a campus with the St. Paul-based school, would maximize the potential impact of the Bible. This gift was made possible by the Hill-Murray Foundation.
St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church, McKinney, TX
This Heritage Edition, number 11, was among the very first to be spoken for. In 2006, Diane Liemondt bought the Edition before even a single volume was bound. Twenty years later, Liemondt felt inspired to gift the Edition to a Catholic Church that would use the Bible to the fullest possible extent. She found that energy in St. Gabriel Archangel, Liemondt’s brother’s home parish. Like the community surrounding it, St. Gabriel has grown exponentially over the past ten years, expanding its facilities and diversifying ministries at every turn.
