The mission of The Saint John’s Bible and Heritage Program is to “ignite the spiritual imagination of people around the world on all faith journeys.” Today, there are over 160 institutions and families around the world that are hosts to The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Edition, from universities, schools, health centers, churches, retreat centers, museums, and private homes.

Religious Institutions

Religious Institutions

“From the outset, The Saint John’s Bible has been ‘a hit!’ Catholic schools in the seven Catholic District School Boards in the Diocese have welcomed visits of The Saint John’s Bible to their classrooms! Even during the COVID restrictions, virtual visits of The Saint John’s Bible stirred the minds and hearts of young people… creative interest in The Saint John’s Bible has been far-reaching and exciting.”

Crosby, OMI, Bishop of Hamilton, Ontario

“Art doesn’t go primarily through the head. It hits what we often describe as the heart. It addresses us at kind of a visceral level, and we’re moved by it. I often talk about the relationship between art, religion, music, et cetera, that they have this power. That’s why famous artworks make an imprint on history. That’s why they are still relevant. They have this power to just grab us – and The Saint John’s Bible is a great contemporary example of that power.”

Dr. Bob O’Connor, University Ombuds and Project Director of The Saint John’s Bible Project at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas

“The Heritage Edition has become a part of the Mayo DNA; it’s a companion to the doctors because there’s more to healing than medicine. There are many things that contribute to the healing process, and I think the spiritual side is an important part of that. The Saint John’s Bible takes the holistic approach; it contributes to full patient well-being. It can divert concern for a little while and give people some peace amongst the storm that life brings to everyone at different points of their life.”

Anna Beth Morgan, Mayo Clinic Executive Director of the Mayo Clinic Libraries

“When we touch and read from the Heritage Edition, we often gaze at the art that illustrates the Word and get lost in that connection and energy. It’s a piece of art that is constantly revealing the Word of God in a beautiful, illuminating way, and it reminds me of the way the Franciscan Renewal Center is all about renewing lives. Something as beautiful and transformative as The Saint John’s Bible can renew you. I believe the Holy Spirit is working very powerfully through the icon of the beautiful work that is The Saint John’s Bible.”

Charles “Charlie” Brown, Executive Director at the Franciscan Renewal Center

Private homes

Private Homes

Increasingly private families are acquiring a Heritage Edition to display and share in their own homes, before donating it to a charitable organization. “It’s been a win-win arrangement for us. We’re enjoying the splendor and scripture of the Heritage Edition in our home for a few years, until we donate it to one of our cherished non-profit institutions. A gift that will keep on giving.”

Apostles Edition

The Apostles Editions are reserved for major donors to The Saint John’s Bible program at Saint John’s University. Generous families and foundations, inspired by this historic work of sacred art, have made it possible for the Apostles Edition to become a part of the permanent collections at the Library of Congress, the Morgan Library, the Vatican Museum of Art, Washington National Cathedral, Lambeth Palace Library, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Their generosity has also helped fund The Saint John’s Bible Gallery and the overall Saint John’s Bible program.
