Interactive Digital The Saint John’s Bible Debuts on New Website

The Saint John’s Bible takes on a life of its own wherever it lives – and now, it lives online for all the world to see and enjoy.

The Saint John’s Bible is thrilled to debut a new website featuring a digital interactive experience of the original manuscript, Turning the Pages, that allows users to page through the majesty of this revered work of art and Scripture. Page through this immersive experience zooming in on every detail, reading pop-up didactics about the art and lettering, and sharing it with others with just a click of your mouse.

This is the first and only online digital experience of The Saint John’s Bible.

“We could not be more excited to announce our new Turning the Pages experience,” said Executive Director of The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Program, Rev. Dr. John F. Ross. “We expect that this tool will not only be an accessible resource for pastors, scholars, and theologians, but a source of inspiration and imagination for fans of The Saint John’s Bible from all walks of life around the world.”

Religious communities and universities worldwide – including the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), Sarum College (Salisbury, England) and St. Patrick’s Cathedral (New York City) – have implemented programming and study surrounding their Heritage or Apostles Editions of The Saint John’s Bible. Libraries, health care systems, retreat centers, and more have also done so, each in a unique way.

Turning the Pages was developed by Armadillo Systems in London and the version for The Saint John’s Bible was spearheaded by Tim Ternes, Director of The Saint John’s Bible at the Hill Manuscript Museum & Library. It features built-in didactics with special insights and gems of wisdom from Ternes, the “Keeper of the Pages” himself.

“This digital expression of The Saint John’s Bible is incredibly special. It almost feels as if you are looking at the real thing,” said Ternes. “The mission of this tool is the same as it is for the original manuscript and its facsimiles, to reinforce the communal nature of the Word and ignite the spiritual imagination of people from all faith journeys. This tool is a meaningful milestone in the pursuit of widespread accessibility to this monumental work of sacred art and Scripture.”
